Every elder bush is of great importance to us and the animal world. On the one hand as a food and on the other hand as a wonderful immune-boosting medicinal herb. The elderberries are so popular with the bird world at the end of summer that the bushes are often eaten empty before we have even thought about harvesting them.
Jeder Hollerstrauch ist für uns und die Tierwelt von großer Bedeutung. Einerseits als Nahrungsmittel und anderseits als wunderbar immunstärkendes Heilkraut. Die Hollerbeeren sind Ende des Sommers so begehrt bei der Vogelwelt, dass oft die Sträucher schon leer gefressen sind, bevor wir nur daran gedacht haben sie zu ernten.
Auf den Wiesen unserer Umgebung, vor allem die die spät gemäht werden, finden wir den Wiesenbocksbart. Im Frühjahr kann man die jungen Triebe, die ein bisschen an Spargel erinnern, essen, aber auch die restliche Pflanze inklusive der Wurzel ist essbar.
In the meadows in our area, especially those that are mowed late, we find the Meadow Goat’s Beard. In spring you can eat the young shoots, which are somewhat reminiscent of asparagus, but the rest of the plant including the root is also edible.
